FAQ
Q:
A:
How old does my child (or I) have to be to take class?
All services are available for students 8 to 17 years of age. Resume Building, Acting Coaching, College Audition Prep, and Audition Prep are also available to students 18+. I find that especially with one-on-one coaching, students younger than 8 still need time to develop their sense of self-regulation and vocal anatomy to the point where outside input is helpful for growth!
Q:
A:
What do I need to take class?
All students will need a notebook/pencil (iPads are totally ok!) and a good attitude! Virtual students will need a secure internet connection and access to either Zoom or GoogleMeets. Virtual vocal students will need a separate device to play instrumental tracks from!
Q:
A:
I'm a guardian/parent! Can I sit in on my child's lesson?
Of course! Invested adults are always welcome to observe lessons. However, I ask that parents/guardians use their best discretion to determine if a student's nervousness about having a person whose opinion they value (aka YOU!) in the room is precluding them from learning. Please let me know beforehand if you are planning to observe a lesson so that I can make sure that everyone has the lesson link.
Q:
A:
I've never taken a lesson before...what should I expect?
First of all, congratulations on a taking an exciting step! Don't worry, my lessons are for students of any and all experience levels. Before your first lesson, you'll receive an email containing what to bring and a breakdown of what our session together will look like! Different services require different things, but usually a first lesson will entail chatting about your goals, a warm-up (for coaching services), a short work session or strategy session, and a cool-down or wrap-up!
Q:
A:
I want to take lessons in-person! Is this possible?
Yes! However, in-person lessons are only currently available in the Greater Hudson Valley area of New York.
Q:
A:
What happens if I'm sick/need to miss a lesson?
Everybody gets sick! If you let me know as soon as possible there will be a greater likelihood that we can reschedule your lesson! If a lesson needs to be cancelled or rescheduled with less than 12 hours notice, a fee of $15 will be charged (exceptions made for emergency situations).
Q:
A:
What happens if YOU get sick/need to miss a lesson?
Great question! If I am sick, or need to miss a lesson, I will notify students and/or parents more than 12 hours in advance (exceptions made for emergency situations). If I am unable to teach, I may reach out to other teaching artists who would be willing to sub for me! This enables you to continue to take class without rescheduling. If you would prefer to reschedule for a time I am available, or in the event that I cannot find a sub, we can reschedule your lesson. If you would prefer to cancel your lesson and receive a full refund for the session, that is always an option as well.

Are there accommodations if a student is having a low spoon day?
Your mental and physical health matters. Without it, we cannot make art! If you are having a low-capacity day, need to sit down during a lesson, or need to have your camera off, let me know and we will always work around what you need!
